ABC Computer Recovery LLC
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
How does the process start for data recovery, or other services through ABC?
Contact ABC via phone, e-mail, or web form. Within a few hours we will contact you. Arrangements will be made to meet at your residence. This is so that we can assess the situation and better understand what we will have to do to recover your data. This also helps us to provide a more accurate estimate of the costs involved.
How long will the process take?
This depends on what needs to be done. A standard sized hard drive usually takes about two or three days to process. Larger drives can take longer. Media sterilization, software installation, and PC tune-ups take about one week to process.
Do you need my whole computer?
In many instances, all we will need is the hard drive from your computer.
What if my hard drive is physically damaged or ABC is unable to recover anything?
If ABC is unable to recover any of your files, then you are not charged for our services.
I formatted my computer and installed a new Operating System, can you still recover old files that were on my computer before the install?
Yes. We are usually able to recover files after a format and OS install. This depends on how long it has been since the format and OS install. It is better to contact us immediately after the format or OS install. The longer you wait while running the computer with the new OS, the less of a chance we have of recovering your files.
Does ABC do actual computer repair?
At ABC our primary expertise is Data Recovery. However, we are capable of performing minor computer repairs (installing a new hard drive, memory, DVD/CD burner, or Sound/Video card).
What is your confidentiality policy with regards to data recovery?
It is our policy not to share any of your personal information with anyone outside of ABC. However, if we come across something that is illegal (Example: Child Pornography) while recovering your data, we will be obligated to contact the proper Law Enforcement authority.
ABOUT US
Both of our Recovery Specialists are Law Enforcement officers in the Milwaukee County area. Since 2005 both have received specialized training in forensic acquisition and recovery of hard drive data. Both intend to continue this training while working in both the Civil (ABC) and Law Enforcement (Police) arenas.
Some of the training included working with several types of Forensic Computer Recovery software and hardware. Both have earned International recognition as Certified Forensic Computer Examiners (CFCE’s). The CFCE process included over a year of intense training and problem sets which honed their skills in the area of data recovery.
You can feel safe that your data is in good hands. Remember, if we don’t find anything during the data recovery process, you don’t pay anything. We are confident that you will be happy with the process.
